I was sitting here this morning and thinking about my days at the Miller Brewing Coin Fulton NY and of some of the nice people who were my sales representatives who called on me and Jake was the best and most knowledgeable professional I had the pleasure of seeing every week. We would have such a great business and personal relationship that was based on honesty and integrity.

His stories about his children always brought a smile to his face and his love for his children was unconditional.

Jake loved his country and was so proud of his medical unit on Burrstone Road and the stories as a weekend warrior were funny and enlightening.

Jake it’s been years since we have talked but you have a special place in my memories and everytime I go by The old Smythe Despatd I thing of you and Jerry Jenny and Sharon.

God Bless you and he had a special place in Heaven.

Dad -

One month has gone by since you've been gone.
It feels like yesterday, and it feels like a long time.

I sometimes expect to be able to call you and hear your laugh.
I am expecting to hear "I love you" when we say goodbye.
I guess it will only be part of memories from now on.

Dad -

Losing you feels unreal during this time of lockdown
when we aren't free to visit our loved ones.
And it will still feel unreal when I can't see you
even when the Country opens up again.

I know that the cut of losing you will start to heal.
I know that memories will some day bring a smile.
But I know that the wound of losing you will sometimes open

We count ourselves very lucky to be able to call Jake & Lorraine friends. We were neighbors in Abingdon, VA. Jake was a treasure & we will miss him so much. Jim so enjoyed shooting skeet with Jake, or just having conversations with him. Loved listening to adventures he had during his lifetime. We loved him so much. Too bad we couldn’t all be there to give comfort to him & Lorraine too. Rest easy Jake!

Larry & I we’re lucky to be neighbors. Loved visiting with Jake & Khallie on the back deck. He loved that little kitty. We talked about hunting and his love of firearms. Told us stories of his younger days and his many experiences. Will miss him dearly.

So sorry to hear of Uncle Jerry's passing. We know its even more difficult in this weird time when those that want to wrap our arms around our favorite Ciocia aren't able to ..please know we are doing so from deep in the heart of Texas. He was always such a kind and gentle soul that brought such love into Lorraine's life. I remember feeling so special being asked to be a part of the wedding that joined the two that seems like only yesterday. We will keep you and his memories close in our hearts not only this Tuesday, but in the upcoming days and weeks.

Jake was an entertaining father-in-law and a pleasure to be around. He was great with his hands and I wish I'd learned more from him. We were fortunate to get him and Lorraine to accompany us on a Panama Canal cruise three years ago. We'll miss him.
