Gene Autry Hitt's Obituary
Gene Autry Hitt, 77, of Culpeper died Friday, January 17, 2014 at Culpeper Regional Hospital. He was born March 17, 1936 in Charlottesville to the late Arthur H. and Janie Dodson Hitt.
Gene attended Woodville Baptist Church and worked for the Town of Culpeper for 42 years where he received his 40 year service award. He enjoyed hunting, working and spending time with his late wife, Juanita Susan Hitt.
He is survived by his siblings; Tacy Hitt of White Shop, James Mitchell Hitt of Culpeper and Judy Kay Green of Culpeper; and his special friends, Gwendolyn S. Ward and Robert A. Ward, Jr., both of Culpeper. Additional survivors include numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by three siblings, Jane Matoca Sandoval, Linda Lanier and Arthur H. Hitt, Jr.
The family will receive friends on Monday, January 20, 2014 from 6 to 8 pm at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at 2 pm at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel with Pastor Josh Shifflett officiating.
Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery.
