Frederick Minier's Obituary
Frederick Minier, 90, of Culpeper passed away on Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at the University of Virginia Medical Center. He was born October 21, 1923 in Philadelphia, PA to the late Frederick Henry and Helen Metroka Minier.
Mr. Minier served his country in the US Navy and was a World War II veteran. In 1954, he graduted from King's College in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., which was founded in 1946 by the Congregation of Holy Cross from the University of Notre Dame, then from 1956 to 1976 he worked for the US Government and State Department in communications for several different embassies having traveled and lived in five countries; Jordan, Cypress, Peru, Iran and Greece. After retiring from the State Department and moving into Culpeper he then spent the next 11 years working for the Town of Culpeper Public Works before retiring to spend more time with his family. He was a member of Precious Blood Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, and Culpeper V.F.W. and American Legion. He was a very loving and giving husband, father, grandfather and friend as well as being incredibly charitable with all of his friends and family.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Pauline Anna Minier; his daughter, Bonnie J. Lester and her husband, Tommy of Culpeper; two grandchildren, Nicole J. Keys and her husband, Earl of Stanardsville and Andrew T. Lester of Culpeper; and four great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, ENS. Frederick Richard Minier (USN); one sister, Alice Salis; and one grandchild, Barrett A. Jones.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 22, 2013 from 2 to 4 pm at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA following a Christian Wake Service at 2 pm and Rosary with Rev. Anselme Malonda-Nkuanga officiating.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, December 23, 2013 at 1 pm at Precious Blood Catholic Church, 114 East Edmondson St., Culpeper, with Father Leo Zonneveld officiating.
Interment will follow in Culpeper National Cemetery.
