Frederick Harry Hundemer, Jr., 93, of Spotsylvania County passed away Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at his home. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and went to work for the Federal Government following the war. He retired from the De Read Obituary
Dick was a neighborhood treasure. We lived next door to each other for almost 20 years. He was a kind, funny, smart neighbor who was always willing to help. Dick and Helen created beautiful gardens that made their home the highlight of our block. The beauty of their gardens is a living tribute to their love of nature. Dick was always deeply committed to his family, his faith, and his community. I missed Dick and Sandy when they moved to Spotsylvania yet knew it was the perfect change for them. I will always remember Dick and his family with great fondness. May you rest in peace and love.
Daddy, words cannot express the hole that you left in my heart. You were a great father, grandfather and great grandfather and you loved them all. There wasnt anything that you wouldn't do for us. You always enjoyed yourself and loved to laugh and dance. I will cherish the memories that I have growing up with you. Every time I saw you, you would tell me that you let the doctor's know that you wanted to see your last grandson graduate high school, but the Good Lord had other plans for you. I know that when Nick graduates next year, you will be there in spirit. I remember listening to your "big band" and "country music" records in the basement with you when I was still living at home. I remember when Jessie was just a baby that you and mom would come over to check on me and when you were getting ready to leave, you kissed me on the forehead when I was sleeping. Those are two memories of you that I will forever cherish. You would call me "little sister" when I saw you, but no more and I will miss that. Rest in Peace Daddy. I love you with all my heart and will miss you dearly!😢💔
I worked with Fred at the Department of Education many years ago and I will always remember his sense of humor. When a bunch of us came new on board, he shared his tremendous knowledge with kindness and understanding. It is fun looking at the pictures shared by the family.
