I was so sorry to hear of Fran's passing. I was even more sorry that I was unable to attend her service. Fran was very instrumental in making me the man, principal and educator that I am today. Fran was special! I called her and old battle axe, but loved her with all my heart. She was an outstanding cafeteria manager when I first became principal of Lee Hill Elementary School. She was unbelievably organized and "ran a tough ship". Together we created some wonderful options for food service that were student friendly and helped our service to the children and staff of Lee Hill to be the finest in the county. When I moved to Brock Road Elem. in 1992, she helped train and guide my inexperienced cafeteria manager Linda Banks. To this day Linda gives "Ms. Michalak" the credit for helping her with all aspects of running an efficient cafeteria, food service program and leading a professional staff. I am sorry for your loss, but I know in my heart that Jesus needed someone to run his food service program... so he called FRAN HOME. I love you Fran and thank you for being in my path.
