Emmett Randolph Starks, II's Obituary
Emmett Randolph Starks II (fondly known to his friends and family as "Sandy") quietly departed this life on Monday July 17, 2017. He graced this world with his presence to the late Emmett Randolph Starks I and Margaret Ann Boiling Roberts (Peggy) on December 9, 1960.
Emmett was a faithful member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Woodville, VA. He was a kind & gentle soul and everybody that had the chance to know him, grew to appreciate, respect and love him.
He spent his early years growing up in Rappahannock County where he graduated high school in 1980. Afterwards, he went to work with his Father for a roofing company in Fairfax, VA. He had a special bond with his father that he always loved to talk about.
Emmett worked for the Town of Culpeper for 30 years until he retired on his birthday December 9, 2016. Even after retiring he didn’t like to sit still, so took a job with Diamond Management Group driving a dump truck. He was a hard worker, appreciated & looked up to by many of his co-workers. He never missed a day of work unless it was planned, or something he had no control over. However, he always took his birthday off.
Emmett enjoyed entertaining, spending time with family, being outdoors and frying fish with his very own special batter.
He adored his beautiful wife Angie, whom he called “Ann”. He always used to tell her that she was his best friend and they would grow old together. They joined in marriage on September 20, 2014 and would have celebrated their 3rd anniversary.
Emmett loved his children, son Bradley Starks (Shinea) & daughter Mariah Starks. We all knew he was so proud of them. He also adored his grandchildren Kylie & Kinley Starks, and Xavier Maduro. He loved dearly his great nieces, Gennifer, Harmony, Summira Slaughter and Nevaeh. There is nothing that he wouldn’t do for all of them. He admired his Mother-in-Law, Mrs. Molly and Father-in-Law Mr. Melvin. Emmett also had a special bond with his nephew Mike Slaughter and cherished a special friendship with Timmy Clanagan and Andie Newman.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandmother, Margaret Klain, Aunt Lois who he considered to be his Mother, Barry Roberts (Brother), Joseph Roberts Jr. (uncle) and Irvin Starks (cousin).
He leaves to cherish his memory: his Wife, Angie Starks, Son, Bradley Starks (Shinea), Daughter Mariah Starks, Mother in law, Mrs. Molly, Father in law, Mr. Melvin, 4 sisters (Carmita, Monica Mathews, Brandi Alexander and Joyce Starks), 3 brothers Kurt Myers, Kelly Myers (Marpessa) and Byron Alexander. One brother-in-law, Rod Slaughter and sister-in-law Darlene Fields, 3 grandchildren (Kylie, Kinley and Xavier) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, great nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
A private celebration of life will be held.
Found and Sons Funeral Chapel of Culpeper is serving the family.
