Elsie Stiles Ellington's Obituary
Elsie S. Ellington of Fredericksburg, VA peacefully passed on February 2, 2019.
She started her life in Denver, CO on July 15, 1920 to the late, Nellie Rae Stiles and Ernest Norman Stiles.
Elsie is survived by her sister, Virginia Shreve and her husband, Dona of Fredericksburg; her three sons, Rev. John T. Ellington, Jr. and his wife, Barbara of Mineral, VA, Bob Ellington and his wife, Karen of Alexandria, VA, and David Ellington and his wife, Jill of Fredericksburg; and her daughter, Sandi Roberts and her husband, Craig of Knoxville, MD. She was a wonderful grandmother to Meredyth Ellington, Jessy Riordan, Christopher Ellington, Michael Ellington, Erin Cosgrove, Tara Zabriski, Shawn Roberts, Brian Roberts, Kevin Roberts, and Jason Ellington. Elsie was also blessed to have seven great-grandchildren; and some very special nieces and nephews.
Elsie was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, John T. Ellington; and her sister, Norma Broyles.
Elsie and John enjoyed traveling and they had many memorable trips around the country.
Elsie was a familiar face at Fairview Baptist Church as she was active as the Sunday School Director, Bible School Director, and Deacon. She was especially loved by those who attended and enjoyed the weekly meals she prepared in the church kitchen. Outside of church, you would see her working on one of her many craft projects, whether it be knitting, crocheting, counted cross stitch, or sewing. She loved to keep busy with a variety of activities and projects.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 8, 2019 at Fairview Baptist Church, 900 Charlotte Street, Fredericksburg, VA, with Dr. Bob Sizemore officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens, 3702 Loren Drive, Fredericksburg, VA. A reception will be held following interment at Fairview Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to Fairview Baptist Church would be appreciated.
