Edwin Francis Gentry's Obituary
Edwin Francis Gentry, Sr., 72, of Boston, VA passed away on Friday, March 13, 2020 at Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg, VA. He was born on October 31, 1947 in Durham, NC to the late Garland Conrad Gentry, Sr. and Lucy Mae Perry Gentry.
Ed grew up in Charlottesville, VA. He graduated with his undergrad and law degree from Campbell University in Buies Creek, NC. Ed was a jack of all trades. He was an attorney, substitute judge, and very well-known caterer in Culpeper. He was a history buff who loved studying the Civil War. Ed became a Civil War preservationist and worked faithfully with the Brandy Station Foundation. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and “collector” of many things, especially sporting memorabilia.
Ed is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Faye C. Gentry; brother, Garland Conrad Gentry, Jr of Culpeper; sisters in law, Cathy C. Langdon and husband, Phil of Benson, NC and Anita C. Stephenson and husband, Mike of Four Oaks, NC; and cousins, Fred Gentry of Winston- Salem, NC and Johnny Gentry and wife, Nancy of Mountain Park, NC.
In addition to his parents, Ed is preceded in death by his son, Edwin “Eddie” Francis Gentry, Jr.
The family invites friends for a celebration of Ed's life on Sunday, September 13, 2020 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at 8085 Conner Drive, Boston, VA. Faye and Garland will attempt to get reminders out prior.
Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Ed’s name to the Brandy Station Foundation at Brandy Station Foundation, P.O. Box 165, Brandy Station, VA 22714.
