Edward W. C. King's Obituary
Edward W. C. King, "Ed", 70, died on July 27, 2024 in Fredericksburg, VA after a long illness.
He was born in Long Island, New York, on November 21, 1953. He received his Master of Fine Arts from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY.
Ed was a beloved artist in the Fredericksburg community. He maintained an art studio at LibertyTown Arts.
Ed spent his early adult years working at a horse farm. He also worked at Germanna Community College as an art instructor for 23 years.
He is survived by his wife, Patty; and his beloved daughter, Lilly Buchanan (Steve). He is also survived by his sister, Mary E. King (Peter); his sister-in-law, Pauline King, (John); and their son, Jonathan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Luther W. King and Alba I. King; his stepson, Judson Harris; and two brothers, William and John King.
Ed was a gentle, kind soul who enjoyed being an artist, and teaching art. He loved nature and animals. He was often seen at the Rappahannock River downtown, with his easel, painting river scenes.
He won many awards over the years for his colorful, creative art. He inspired many of his students to pursue their dreams of becoming artists.
His family wishes to thank his many friends who were there for him throughout his illness, and many who drove him to medical appointments and offered their support and prayers.
There will be a private memorial service for family members.
