Duncan Raymond Walters Jr.'s Obituary
Duncan R. Walters, Jr., of Ruther Glen, passed away Sunday, August 1, 2021.
Duncan was a people person. He got a kick out of playing pranks and telling jokes to make people laugh. He enjoyed the outdoors, hiking in the Blue Ridge Mountains, fishing, kayaking and skiing. Duncan had a huge circle of friends. Anyone that met him loved him and remained a friend.
He worked in the medical field all his life with 25 years at Mary Washington Hospital. Duncan loved to cook and grill for an army. It gave him great satisfaction to feed people and try new recipes.
He enjoyed a wide variety of music. His favorite band was the Grateful Dead. One of his favorite pastimes was to sit and watch the trains go by. He would even stop by the roadside when one went by and roll the window down.
His favorite spot was at home in his chair watching the hummingbirds, looking at his plants and flowers, surrounded by his pets.
Duncan leaves behind, his wife, Mary; his daughter, Stephanie; his mother and step-father, step-mother, two sisters; a brother; five nieces; and two nephews.
Duncan’s family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 11, 2021 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 10719 Courthouse Road, Fredericksburg.
In lieu of flowers, Duncan’s family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to A Tail to be Told at atailtobetold.org.
