My condolences to the entire Davies Family for the loss of Don. My first memories of him were at St. Johns when I first moved to the parish 20+ yrs ago. He and Cathy were in their pew in the back and they had Grace with them. Long after all the other parishioners had left, they remained in their pew praying and so it was each time I saw them. Eventually I ended up being introduced to Don and Cathy and they were kind, loving, and prayerful in all the things they did in their life. Seeing the family go through the loss of Kathy and now Don. My heart truly breaks for them.
In the last two years, I've watched Don struggle through so many health challenges and many of them he was able to conquer and by his side the entire time faithfully was Chris. Don was Chris's entire life, he slept downstairs near him, he took care of him, made sure he was healthy, dressed, breathing right, ect. The love and compassion that Chris showed his father, is a lesson for us all. I also remember Rob helping for quite a while after Don came home with his care, it is something that he will be blessed for as well. Grace and Timothy who also were there to assist and be with Don, will miss him the most along with Chris.
It was about a month ago when my Mom and I stopped by for a visit, I believe we had brought dinner over for the family and it turned into almost an hour of talking with Don, Chris, Grace, and Tim. I wish I had spent more time helping with Don and his fam, I wish I had visited more. I will greatly miss Don, I will miss seeing Chris pushing him into Church in his wheelchair, I'll miss shaking his hand, most of all.. I will miss seeing Don's smiling face. What a great man and father!
