Del was my first hire at CRi. He didn't mind having a "boss" 10 years younger than him. He was rock steady, dependable and respected our mission and individuals he helped maintain a comfortable home for. He was generous with his knowledge and patient. While sometimes he appeared gruff he was a gentle, caring soul.
At his retirement luncheon I joked that we had been together longer than our current marriages as it took both of us a redo to find our person. I'm glad that he had Pam, although I/m sure 19 years feels to short. I am glad he did have someone to care for him and to care for. From his stories they had great adventures and family life together. My deepest condolences Pam and to his entire extended family.
I will always have fond thoughts of Del. A solid man with a life well led. How I especially wish the Lions could have come through for him this past season. Like in many aspects of his life he never gave up on his team even after an 0-16 season. RIP.
