David H. Wood's Obituary
David H. Wood, 89 of Fredericksburg, VA went home to be with our Lord on Saturday, April 12, 2014.
Beloved husband of 70 years to Dorothy Wood and son of Edna and Raymond Wood of Alexandria, VA.
David was born and raised in Alexandria, VA. He was a builder in Montgomery County, MD where he and Dorothy raised five daughters, Linda Wood-Selby of Murfreesboro, TN, Martha Butler (Gerry – deceased) of Damascus, MD, Patti Barse of Frederick, MD, Nancy Roundtree (Joe) of Gaithersburg and Betsy Curtiss (Jim) of Fredericksburg, VA. He is also survived by ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
David was a Marine World War II Veteran, Sunday School Teacher, Deacon, and skilled carpenter. He will be forever remembered for his love for his family, his beautiful poetry and above all his love and devotion to his wife and his Lord Jesus Christ.
David’s family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 17, 2014 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 10719 Courthouse Rd., Fredericksburg, VA; with the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations in David’s name to the Wounded Warriors foundation.
