I will always regret not being able to attend Uncle David's funeral service.
Unfortunately, I was recovering from a kidney surgery (removed kidney with cancerous tumor) performed in March. I have fond childhood memories of Uncle David and Aunt Dorothy at Ganna's (his mother Edna Wood) Sunday dinners. I loved their visits. He kept you laughing at his jokes and playfullness. And Aunt Dorothy was so pretty. I have pictures that remind me of those days. His sister, Mary Lee Wood West Seeber, passed away at 95 on January 13 of this year. While they could not visit much on the phone, they have a lot of time to visit now. They are both with the Lord in Heaven. My sympathy and prayers go out to Dorothy and my cousins.

My love and thoughts go to my Aunt Dorothy and Cousins. We can celebrate the wonderful life of my Uncle David. He lived a full and successful life as a husband, father and businessman. When I remember David, I see only a generous and funny man who always entered a space with a smile and something humorous to say. I owe David much thanks. As a young man he hired me to work as a member of his construction crew at a time that I needed an opportunity improve my way in the world. Because of the trade skills I learned working with him, I was able to move to Colorado and work as a subcontractor to earn myself degrees at the University of Colorado. These skills I learned were critical to the success I have had in my life, So, David, I toast to a beautiful journey home for you.

This is Terri, Shirley's daughter and Uncle David was my great uncle. Although it had been many years since I had seen him I have fond memories of him. I remember his quiet and gentle spirit and his infectious smile. He had a talent with pen and paper and wrote beautiful poems from which you could tell that Uncle David loved life itself. I remember visiting the beautiful log home he built...what skill and talent the Lord blessed him with. Aunt Dorothy holds a special memory for me because she made my wedding flowers so my prayers for comfort go out to her. Seventy years of marriage is truly a love story!

I have such wonderful memories growing up around your family. I am thankful that I was able to attend the services and to see all the members our your family. My thoughts are with you and your loved ones during this time. Keeping his memories close to you keeps him alive in us all. I am James & Neva's granddaughter (David & Nelda's daughter). I vaguely recall great-uncle David and was unaware how close we lived to y'all during the couple years we were in Fredericksburg until about the time my husband & I moved to Central NY. Wish we would have discovered sooner so we could've visited. Mom & dad found out about his passing late last week & let me know just a few days ago. Our hearts & prayers are with y'all, but I can only imagine what a glorious Easter the Wood siblings are having with the loved ones who've gone before as well as (& most importantly) with our Lord.

I became a member of the Lewis family when I married Darryl Lewis almost thirteen years ago. Although I did not have the privilege of meeting Mr. Wood, my husband shared a fond memory of him with me. My sincerest condolences for your loss.

Dorothy and family,
My thoughts and prayers are with you. I don't know if you remember me or not but I am David Evans who, as a young man, worked for Woody. My father Clarence worked with Woody from the time they were both young men until they retired. Woody was my first boss. I went to work for him in 1964 as a summer laborer toting lumber to the carpenters that were building custom homes for D.H Wood, Builder. Between Woody and my father they instilled a work ethic and pride of craftsmanship in me that lives to this day. I will be forever thankful to him for his mentoring.There were never finer men on this earth than Woody and Clarence. Please accept my condolences for your loss.
