what an amazing teacher and mentor.... the patience, the intense and humorous stories that I still think of today.
I first met Dave at Fredericksburg parks and reck when he first started teaching jujitsu there I was 13 yrs old he trained me for the next 10 yrs till I moved away to NC I would always stop in for his classes whenever I was back in town I looked to him as a father figure for me since I didn’t have a father in my life we would go up to NY during the summer for seminars with Roy or kiyamma sensei , I was like Danielson in the karate kid movie doing chores for the training I remember I painted his house the wig hill house cause he was afraid of heights he told me he didn’t even like be as tall as he was lol, I might of paid twice in the whole time I trained with him cause he knew I was from a poor family that couldn’t afford the cost class I was truly grateful for everything he taught me on and off the mat I became sensei number one uki thats person who’s being thrown I will always miss him and remember him, shuygo
Lamond Sensei was one of the most influential teachers, mentors, and friends in my life. I had the distinct honor of knowing him from 2011-2020 and the esteemed honor of being his 40th and final black belt. The reach of his lessons touched literally hundreds of thousands of lives through his teaching to hundreds of civilians, thousands of police, and by extension his influence on the US Marine Martial Arts program and the hundreds of thousands to whom it has been taught. Dave has cultivated two families and I am proud to be a part of his dojo family. There are many people alive today because of Lamond Sensei.
Loved Sensei Dave from the first day we met! He was a true gentleman with the best sense of humor. A true friend. He will be missed terribly! Totemo kanashii ❤️
