Daniel Milton Norman's Obituary
Daniel Milton Norman, 77, of Woodville went home to be with his Lord and Savior Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at Fauquier Health Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. He was born April 22, 1935 in Rappahannock County to the late Milton and Lizzie Heflin Norman.
Mr. Norman worked as a firefighter for over 10 years in Washington DC on Engine 21 Truck 9 before retiring to his cattle farm where he continued to work. He was a trustee and head usher at Hope Hill Baptist Church in Castleton. He also taught the youth Sunday school for over 30 years. He enjoyed tending to the flower garden and landscaping at the church.
He is survived by his loving wife, Bessie Hawkins Norman; two sons, Ken Norman of Washington, VA and Steven Norman and his wife, Teresa of Front Royal; his daughter-in-law, Fran Jenkins Spellman of Warrenton; and three grandchildren, Will, Wade and Wyatt Norman, all of Washington, VA.
Additional survivors include his siblings, Flossie Wharton of Woodville, Mary Wiley and her husband, Paul of Woodville, Nick Norman and his wife, Lillian of Castleton and John Norman and his wife, Nina of Washington, VA; and three sisters-in-law, Sadie Norman of Woodville, Hazel Veltoven of Culpeper and Joan Hawkins of Chicago, IL.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two siblings, David Norman and Rena Burke; and three brothers-in-law; Kinsey Wharton, Richard Burke and A. B. Hawkins.
The family will receive friends on Friday, March 22, 2013 from 6 to 8 pm at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2013 at 12 pm at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel with Rev. John Lines and Pastor Jim Lough officiating.
Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery with military honors provided by Culpeper VFW Post 2524 and Culpeper American Legion Post 330.
Pallbearers will be Will Norman, Wade Norman, Wyatt Norman, Frank Wiley, Dic Burke, Tim Norman, F.S. Lucas and Syd Tiffany.
Memorial contributions may be made in his name to Hope Hill Baptist Church, 17 Hope Hill Rd., Castleton, VA 22716.
