Carolyn Young Williams' Obituary
Carolyn Young Williams, 77, of Fredericksburg, VA, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on July 6, 2026. She was born to the late Edwin and Virginia Young, in Culpeper, VA.
Carolyn was a woman whose life was defined by dedication, kindness, and an incredible work ethic. In 1969, she began what would become an extraordinary 56-year career with Kentucky Fried Chicken. She proudly opened the Culpeper, Virginia, Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant as its first General Manager, helping establish a business that became a familiar part of the community. Even after retiring, Carolyn's love for her work and the people she served drew her back, and she continued her career at the Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant in Warrenton, Virginia. Her commitment, leadership, and unwavering dedication earned the respect and admiration of countless coworkers, customers, and friends throughout the years.
Outside of work, Carolyn embraced life's simple pleasures. She loved shopping for the perfect find, enjoying good food with family and friends, and taking cruises that allowed her to relax and explore new places. She never missed an opportunity to watch her favorite cooking shows, always eager to discover new recipes and techniques.
Carolyn was an exceptional cook and baker whose kitchen was the heart of her home. Whether preparing a family meal or baking something special for a holiday or celebration, she expressed her love through the food she shared. Her recipes, warm hospitality, and delicious homemade treats will be treasured memories for all who gathered around her table.
Above all, Carolyn will be remembered for her hardworking spirit, generous heart, and the love she gave so freely to her family and friends. Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched, both through her many years of service and through the cherished memories she created with those she loved.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered with love.
She is survived by her children, Sherene Young and Timothy Young; one granddaughter, Kiersten Young; sisters, Vivian Young, Karen Lee (Edward), Kimberly Lewis (Rodney), Sharon Williams (Larry); brother, Vincent Young (Trusha); aunt, Sylvia Matthews; sister-in-law, Joyce Young, and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Laverne Young, Imogene Jackson, and Yvonne Ford; brother, Ivan Young, Sr.; daughter-in-law, Karen Young, and nephew, Anthony Lee
A funeral service will be held on July 18, 2026, at 12 p.m. with Pastor Reese Washington officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior.
Pallbearers serving the family will be Robert Roberson, John Brent, Charlie McCoy, Tim Pullen, and Larry Evans.
