I served with MAJ Borges in the 80th Division, and I remember him as a kind man who always had a smile. My condolences on your loss. Godspeed, Carmelo.

I served with MAJ Borges while he was assigned to the 80th Division G8 in Richmond, VA as well as when we were deployed to Iraq. I have not worked with a finer Soldier than he. Our deepest condolences to Helena and the rest of the family. I met Carmelo through a mutual compadre, LTC Jesus Reynoso. I liked him from the first time I saw him, he was a die hard Yankee fan just like me. Rest in peace Carmelo, God bless your family during this time of sorrow.
I just heard yesterday through a mutal friend. My deepest condolences to Helen and the Borges Family. I worked with Carmelo at 6/80th Div and 3/104th Div at Ft. Belvoir a few years back. He was so much fun to be around and always had a fantastic positive attitude. He never let anything bother him for long. I always felt welcome with Helen and Carmelo.
