Carl Harrison Settle's Obituary
Carl Harrison Settle, age 70, of Elkwood was welcomed home to the arms of Jesus on Tuesday, June 14, 2011 surrounded by his loving family. He was born May 15, 1941 in Culpeper to the late Ollie Sr. and Alberta Frazier Settle.
Carl was a veteran of the US Army, stationed in Fort Lewis, Washington where he met his loving wife Judy. He retired from A&P and Safeway where he was a meat cutter for many years. He was a longtime member of the Milam Ridge Hunting Club and enjoyed hunting before he was overtaken with Parkinson’s disease. He was always willing to help his family, friends and neighbors when they needed him. Carl will be a loving memory for many people and was an example of what a true friend is.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Judy of Elkwood, his son, Stacey and his wife, Sherri of Locust Grove, his daughter, Karla Boley and her husband, Neil of Culpeper, five grandchildren, Marissa Settle, Brian Jenkins, Joseph Boley, Sara Boley and Levi Boley, one sister, Gloria Settle Myers, two brothers, Benny and Ollie Jr. of Elkwood, his friend, Wayne Twomey, as well as his loving church family at First Century Baptist Church in Stevensburg where he was a member for many years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Kenny and Burnette Settle and a brother-in-law, Jesse Myers.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 17, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA with Rev. Lee Brown officiating. A one hour visitation will be held prior to the service.
Interment will follow in Culpeper National Cemetery.
Members from the Milam Ridge Hunting Club will be serving as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to First Century Baptist Church, 19111 Batna Rd., Culpeper, VA 22701.
