Brian Scott Kilburne, 55, died on Tuesday, August 22, 2017 from injuries sustained in a work-related vehicle accident in Arlington, VA.
Brian was born on June 28, 1962 to his parents, Herman Kilburne, Jr. and Emma (Tripp) George. He was raised in Elkland, PA and graduated from Elkland High School in 1980. Upon completion of high school, he immediately began working for Lane Construction. Brian was a dedicated Lane employee for 37 years. During which time he worked his way from Laborer to Foreman to Senior Foreman. In 2004 he was the recipient of the James Smith and Helen Smith Flanders Award, given to recognize an individual employee who has made and is making an outstanding contribution to the success, strength, and character of Lane.
On September 11, 1982, Brian married Brenda Wood. Together they raised three beautiful children, Brianna, Belinda, and Brandon. Because of Brian’s job, the family has lived in many states but had settled down in Fredericksburg, VA for the past 17 years. As a family, they enjoyed camping, fishing, and attending concerts. Though they moved around a lot, Brian’s jubilant and deep-caring nature enabled them to form close friendships in every community that they lived in.
Brian is survived by his wife, Brenda (Wood) Kilburne; his two daughters, Brianna Kilburne of Fredericksburg, VA, and Belinda Kilburne of Ruther Glen, VA; and by his son and daughter-in-law, Brandon and Megan Kilburne of Stuarts Draft, VA. He is also survived by his four beautiful grandchildren who called him Pop Pop, Libby, Landon, Tristan, and Remington. Still surviving are his mother, Emma George and his mother-in-law, Shirley (Garrel) Wood. He is survived by four sisters, Francilla (Theodore) Jankowski, Vicky (Joseph) Veon, Linda (Harry) Brown, and Faye Kilburne Youmans; and by one brother, Durwood (Nancy) Ianson. Also surviving him is a special cousin, Tammey (Daniel) Horton; and several nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by an infant brother, James C. and by a loving brother, Herman Kilburne, III.
In honoring Brian’s wishes, a private family viewing will be at the Found and Sons Funeral Chapel in Fredericksburg, VA on Monday, August 28, 2017. At a later date, a Celebration of Life will be held, where all of his family and friends will come together to pay tribute to a life well lived. The family will announce the date, time, and place of that celebration once all arrangements have been made.
