Augustus E. Gordon's Obituary
Augustus Edwin “Gus” Gordon, 79, of Orange went to be with his Lord peacefully on Friday, July 16, 2010 with his family by his side. He was born November 25, 1930 in Orange, VA to the late Conway and Katherine Francis Gordon.
Gus was baptized in 1942 in Madison Mills River and was always involved in the life of the church. He served faithfully as a member of Faith Christian Church in Warrenton for fifteen years, Crenshaw Christian Center in Los Angeles and later became a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church. He worked for US Airways for 40 years and was a loving husband, father grandfather and friend.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Jane W. Gordon, his children, Charlayne Gordon of Phoenix, AZ and Renee Gordon of Washington, D.C., and one granddaughter, Nadia Tyler of Forrestville, MD.
Additional survivors include his siblings, Horace Gordon of Glen Arden, MD, Beatrice Harris of Washington, D.C., Eloise Gray of Columbia, MD, Catherine Anamateros of Madison, Dorothy Cooper and her husband, Ned of Madison, Edward S. Gordon and his wife, Rue of Washington, D.C., Charles Gordon and his wife, Pat of Upper Marlboro, MD, two sisters-in-law, Rev. Arlene W. Gordon of Sunrise, FL and Etlan Gordon of Orange, one brother-in-law, Clarence Wallace of San Diego, CA, and a host of other family and friends.
The family will receive friends on Friday, July 23, 2010 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 24, 2010 at 11 a.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel with Pastor Walter Bryant, Pastor Michael Tinsley and Rev. Arlene W. Gordon officiating.
Interment will follow in Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family would like to give a special thank you to everyone involved especially Legacy Hospice of Charlottesville and Madison County Rescue Squad.
