Anthony John Cerrito's Obituary
Anthony John Cerrito, Sr., 88, formerly of Fraser, MI and North Myrtle Beach, SC passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, April 9, 2011, surrounded by his loving family.
Tony was born in Thornton, MS on December 13, 1922. He graduated from Henry Ford Trade School in 1941.
He bravely served as a Gunnery Sergeant with the 86th Division 3rd Battalion, (Blackhawks) in both the European and Pacific Theaters of World War II.
He worked as a manager for Camdale Precision Tool Corp. in Roseville, MI for over 25 years. He retired to the Myrtle Beach area in 1986 where he was employed as Head Starter at The Long Bay Country Club for almost 20 years.
His beloved parents, Giovani and Rosaria Avara-Cerrito; his brothers, Samuel and John Cerrito and his two sisters, Jennie Cerrito and Mary Walzack, preceded him in death.
Tony had a lifetime love of golf and was the proud achiever of two holes in one. He was a crossword puzzle maven. He was a friend to everyone he met.
Tony is survived by his most precious possessions, his loving and devoted wife of 54 years, Gilda Webb-Cerrito; his sons, Anthony Jr., Michael and Steven Cerrito; and his daughter, Gina Clinthorne and her husband, Dr. David Clinthorne.
He is also survived by his adoring grandchildren, Graham Clinthorne and his wife, Megan and their unborn child, Charlotte, due in May, Evan Clinthorne, Michael Cerrito, Jr., Casey Cerrito and Cara Cerrito. A daughter also survives Tony from his previous marriage, Rosalind.
A memorial service will be held Monday, April 18, 2011 from 2:00-8:00 pm at RG & GR Harris Funeral Home, 15451 Farmington Road, Livonia, MI 48154.
Tony’s family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to Mary Washington Home Health & Hospice, 5012 Southpoint Parkway, Fredericksburg, VA 22407 or in the form of flowers for his memorial service.
