Althea Lenore Cree's Obituary
Althea L. Pohle Cree, 92, of Fredericksburg died Friday, April 29, 2011, at her home.
She was a resident of Fredericksburg since her husband retired from Mack Truck in 1985.
She lived with her daughter and son-in-law, Betty and David Slater, for more than 12 years. She was born in Trooper, Pa., and lived in New Jersey for 45 years before moving to Virginia.
Althea is survived by her daughters, Alice Bailey of Spotsylvania County, Mary Graham of Woodland, Pa., and Betty Slater of Fredericksburg; her sister, Delores Master of Martinsburg, W.Va.; a brother, Robert Pohle of Dayton, Ohio; six grandchildren, Willard Paul Bailey Jr., Nancy Karnes, Richard Graham, Dr. Michael Graham, Kenneth Graham and Stacy D. Eye; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James S. Cree, who passed on April 25, 1997.
Althea volunteered teaching Sabbath school for children at Seventh-day Adventist churches for 26 years.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 4, at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 10719 Courthouse Road, Fredericksburg. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 5, at the funeral home chapel, with Pastor Gregory Arutyunyanh officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
