Zoraida "Zory" Cruz Perez's Obituary
It is with profound sadness; we announce the passing of Zoraida “Zory” Cruz Perez. Our loving and devoted mother, grandmother, and friend departed on Friday, December 16, 2022 surrounded by her children and granddaughters.
Zoraida was the beloved mother of Jose, Milagros, Noel, Rene, Claudina, Angelo, Zoraida, and Awilda; proud grandmother of 18, great-grandmother of 34, and great-great grandmother of four.
She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Luis “Papo” Torres Lopez; parents, Tomasa Perez and Jose Cruz; and her three sons, Jose “Tato” Nieves, Noel Nieves, and Angelo “Rocky” Torres.
Born in Adjuntas, Puerto Rico, Zoraida traveled to New York to explore a new life, but eventually situated back in Puerto Rico where she was a great part of her community. She touched so many lives, was loved by everyone, opened her doors to all, provided food, and shelter to anyone in need. She lived a full life as a wonderful mother, mentor, and dedicated humanitarian.
Zoraida loved to do arts and crafts, sew, be surrounded by family, and enjoyed her weekly outings. Most of all she loved her family and friends, and instilled good values in her children and grandchildren that have served them well. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Monday, December 26, 2022 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 10719 Courthouse Road, Fredericksburg. A celebration of her life will follow in the funeral home chapel.
Flowers or donations are welcome.
