Yancy Louise Hill's Obituary
Yancy Louis Hill, 73, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, December 3, 2014. He was born April 30, 1941 in Criglersville, Madison County, VA to the late Otha Clifton, Sr. and Lenora Weaver Hill.
Yancy began his formal education in the Madison County school system, starting at the Oak Grove Elementary School, moving to the Madison Elementary School and graduating from George Washington Carver Regional High School in Culpeper.
At an early age, Yancy gave his life to Christ and joined the Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Criglersville, under the pastorage of Rev. John A. Holmes. He was a member of the choir for the duration of his membership. In later years, he became a member of the Trustee Board under the leadership of Bishop Wayne Carpenter, now Pastor Ada Summers.
Yancy was an avid farmer and stayed at home working on the farm alongside his father and older brother Cliff (affectionately known as “Junior”) for many years. In 1968, he decided to follow his brother and went to work with Trailways Virginia Stage Lines. He enjoyed driving the buses on regularly scheduled routes and on charter trips, and he enjoyed meeting the many different people on these trips. He retired from Trailways in 1987. Later employment included Pullen Bus Tours, Sammy James Construction, and owned and operated his own excavating business, H&H Excavating.
In 1970, Yancy married Carolyn Barber. To this union were born two daughters- Marsha and Michelle.
On December 10, 1977, Yancy was blessed by marrying the love of his life, Jessie McCoy Jackson Brown. With this union, Yancy became the step-father to Francine Poles and the late Warren Brown. Jessie entered eternal rest June 26, 2009.
Yancy leaves to mourn his daughters, Marsha and Michelle Hill and Francine Cropp and her husband, Steve; sisters, Cutura Hill, Anna Hill and Sharon Cole; granddaughters, Courtney and Lauren Brewer; devoted nephew, Marlon Hill and his wife, Donna; nieces, Marilyn Gail Charity and Cliftonia Henderson ; great nieces, Connie Hill, Rachel and Laura Charity, Taylor and Sydney Henderson; great great niece, Brianna Rogers; two great great nephews, Jaylyn and Anthony Rogers; special friend, Clara Jolly; god-brother, Rev. Reid Frye; and many other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, December 8, 2014 at 12 pm at Antioch Baptist Church, 1165 Mud Rd., Madison, VA with Pastor Ada Summers officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Interment will follow in the Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery.
