Willis "Les" Broadus' Obituary
Willis Leslie Broadus passed away on November 28, 2017 at Culpeper Health & Rehabilitation Center. Les was born October 1, 1923, and he is survived by his wife Gladys; two daughters: Anise Broadus and Alfreda Edmonds; two step-daughters: Robin Conway and Tracy Williams (Dwayne); three step-sons: Michael, Ray and Keith Stewart; five grandchildren: Shaun Meadows (Betsy), LaKisha Thompson, Michael Broadus, Charletta Norman (Wesley) and Christopher Edmonds; step-grandchildren: Kiara Hailstalk and Ayanna Williams (often in the household) and 14 other step-grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; six great-step-grandchildren; one sister, Maria Brown, one brother-in-law, Forrest Tinsley; one sister-in-law, Joan Coleman, his devoted niece, Evelyn Madden; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
In addition to his parents, Les was predeceased by his only beloved son, Willis Leslie Broadus, Jr.; two brothers, Berline and Edward Leroy Broadus; and five sisters: Anise Ford, Mildred Dixon, Mary Lou Pollard, Lillian Dorsey and Willard Tinsley.
Among Les’ popular stories, were some of his experiences during his tour of duty in the 2257th Aviation Quartermaster Truck Company from 1943 to 1946 and his return home with a World War II Victory Ribbon among his other commendations and medals.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at 2 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA. Viewing will be one hour before the service.
Interment will follow on Monday, December 11, 2017 at 10 a.m. at Culpeper National Cemetery with military honors provided by Culpeper VFW Post 2524.
Donations in Les’ memory may be made to the Food Bank in Fredericksburg, VA.
