Willie McFarland's Obituary
Willie McFarland, 93, of Washington passed away on Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at Culpeper Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was born December 26, 1920 in Rappahannock County to the late Clarence and Novilla Whorton McFarland.
Mr. McFarland made his life as a farmer for over forty years and retired from Tripplets Mill after 21 years. He was a member of Gid Brown Church and will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and great great grandfather.
He is survived by his wife of 74 years, Lois McFarland; his children, Betty Grigsby, Peggy Tharp and her husband, William, and Joan Broyles and her husband, Carroll; his half-brother, Richard McFarland and his wife, Louise; his half-sister, Emma Stanley and her husband, Henry; and his sister-in-law, Lillie Corbin.
Additional survivors include his grandchildren, Jamie McFarland, Tommy McFarland, Lynn McFarland, Sandy King, Kerry Grigsby, Glenn Tharp, Brenda Cubbage, Carroll Broyles, Jr., Karen Jenkins and Joe Broyles; great grandchildren, Kerry Paul Grigsby, Will Grigsby, Glenn Tharp, Jr., Kelly Douthat, Karington Jenkins, Kaitlyn Jenkins, Karaline Jenkins and Kurt Jenkins; and great great grandchildren, Lee Tharp, Tommy Douthat, Abigail Douthat, Little KP Grigsby, Aiden Grigsby, Kaidence Grigsby, Dalton Grigsby, Kylea Grigsby and Liam Grigsby.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sons, Billy McFarland, Jimmy McFarland and Gene McFarland; one son-in-law, K.P. Grigsby; one sister, Bertha Fincham; one half-brother, Roy Whorton; and two half-sisters, Frances Stringfellow and Dot Settle.
The family will receive friends on Friday, October 31, 2014 from 6pm to 8pm at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA.
A funeral service will be held at 2pm on Saturday, November 1, 2014 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel with Rev. John Burke officiating.
Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery.
