William G. Buraker, Sr.'s Obituary
William Gratton (Grat) Buraker, Sr., 87, of Culpeper, died on Monday, February 2, 2009 at Culpeper Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was born on September 29, 1921 in Page County to the late George and Willie Estelle Thomas Buraker.
Mr. Buraker served his country as a WWII veteran in the United States Army. He attended Culpeper Assembly of God Church and was a lifetime member of V.F.W. Post # 2524 and American Legion Post #330. He retired from the Virginia Department of Transportation. He enjoyed working in his garden, growing all types of fruits and vegetables. Mr. Buraker was also an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed telling bear stories to his grandchildren, and he could wiggle his big ears whenever you asked him, and was very proud of that fact. Most of all he so loved his beloved wife, Margaret.
He is survived by his daughter, Linda Christensen and her husband, Jerry of Culpeper, his son, William “Billy” Buraker, Jr., and his friend, Polly Corbin of Culpeper, his siblings, Virginia Anderson of Culpeper, Eva Mae Abernathy of Harrisonburg, Iva Deane Efird of Madison and George Buraker of Culpeper, 3 grandchildren, Jarret Christensen, Cindy Lupi and her husband, Bill, Katelyn Buraker, 2 great grandchildren, Emily and Matthew Lupi and a special niece, Zora Bailey and other numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Buraker.
