William Bernard Underwood's Obituary
William Bernard Underwood, 55, of Sperryville died on Wednesday, September 30, 2009 at his residence. He was born May 15, 1954 in Columbia, SC to the late Willie James Underwood and Mabel Elizabeth Coleman.
Mr. Underwood was a man that loved the Lord. He retired after 20 years of service as a Sergeant 1st Class in the United States Army. He enjoyed racquetball, bowling and traveling with his loving wife.
He is survived by his wife, Carol Underwood of Sperryville, seven children, Josh, Phillip, Eunice, Isaac, Priscilla, Debra and Maile Underwood, and stepchildren, Raiford Matthews, Taureece Matthews, Shantese Ratledge and Sherroda Chamberlain.
Additional survivors include a sister, Pamela Underwood, his best friend, Greg Lee who has been a constant support, special friends, Sam and Estelle Johnson, Freeman, and Brother Ellis, and extended family, friends and co-workers. Thank you all for your prayers, love and support.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Sarah Elizabeth Underwood.
