William Alvin Smith's Obituary
William Alvin Smith “Smitty the Snap-On Tool Man” died on Monday, October 2, 2006 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on February 2, 1946 in Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C.
He has been a resident of Culpeper, VA for seventeen years after moving here from Alexandria, VA. He was a long time Snap-On Tool distributor in Culpeper and the surrounding area. He served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.
He is survived by his three children, Sarah, Stephen, and Alexandra all of Culpeper, his brothers, James Smith of Lake Mary, FL., and David Smith of Alexandria, VA., and his sister, Sandra Richter of Culpeper, VA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Master Sergeant James and Evelyn Dobson Smith of Alexandria, VA.
The family will receive friends on Friday, October 6, 2006 from 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturday, October 7, 2006 from 1 to 3 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike (Rt. 522), Culpeper, VA 22701.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 7, 2006 at 3 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel with Mark Hackett, a longtime friend, officiating.
Interment will be held at Culpeper National Cemetery at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Culpeper Community Sports Complex, 155 W Davis St., Culpeper, VA, 22701 and/or Culpeper Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 731, Culpeper, VA 22701.
