William Yancey's Obituary
William B. (Billy) Yancey, 76, of Culpeper died Thursday, August 26, 2010 at his residence. He was born October 13, 1933 in Culpeper to the late Edwin M. and Edna Hawkins Yancey.
Mr. Yancey was a member and former Deacon of Alum Springs Baptist Church. He enjoyed farming and playing dominoes nearly every day. Above all, he cherished his time with his grandchildren after he retired from VDOT.
He is survived by his wife of over 50 years, Jean C. Yancey, two children, Lynne Baker and her husband, Gary, Dale Yancey Sr. and his wife, Sylvia, both of Culpeper, and his grandchildren, Brendan Yancey, Dale Yancey, Jr. Brittany Yancey and Daniel Yancey, all of Culpeper.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Milton Yancey and one sister, Janie Yancey.
The family will receive friends on Monday, August 30, 2010 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at 11 a.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel with Rev. Ron Young officiating.
Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jack Hawkins, Taye Griffin, Richard Jenkins, Lewis Hawkins, Tommy Jenkins and Bill Staton. Honorary pallbearer will be Ed Gaskins.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Hospice of the Rapidan for all their love and compassion.
