William Elmer Tutwiler's Obituary
William “Billy” Elmer Tutwiler passed away peacefully on September 28, 2024 at the age of 89. Billy was born in his childhood home to the late Homer & Vida Tutwiler. He was a lifelong resident of Culpeper County.
At the age of 22, Billy enlisted in the United States Army and spent 2 years on active duty proudly serving his country and then 3 years in the Army Reserves. When he returned home from Germany, he met the love of his life, Jean, and they were married a year later.
Billy worked in the mill at Culpeper Farmer’s Co-op and retired from there after 35 years of employment. His free time was spent working on his farm where he could be found late into the evening making hay and checking on his cows.
In addition to his wife of 63 years, Billy is survived by his sister, Shirley Tutwiler Brill; his nieces and nephews, Tina Jenkins (Brad), Jerry Whitlock (Laura), Karen Whitlock, Kenneth “Tony” Whitlock, Deborah Jones, Dustin Whitlock (Heather), William “Cody” Whitlock (Candace); and his great nieces and nephews, Ashley Wharton (Mark), Kaitlin Harris, Taylor Whitlock, Aiden Whitlock, and Mary Jane Whitlock.

A graveside service will be held on October 1, 2024 at 1 o’clock in the afternoon at Culpeper National Cemetery, 501 E. Chandler Street, Culpeper, VA with honors provided by the Culpeper VFW Post 2524.
The family would like to thank the staff at The Culpeper for the kindness and compassion shown to Mr. Tutwiler during his stay there.
