William Alexander Prokos' Obituary
William A. Prokos of Manassas, VA passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 12, 2011 in his residence at the Emeritus of Manassas. William was born in Washington, DC on January 23, 1924 he was the son of the late George N. Prokos and Florence Kimmel Prokos. A native Washingtonian, Mr. Prokos loved Baseball, Football, especially the Washington Senators and the Washington Redskins.
Mr. Prokos served in the 376th Air Service Group in Europe, during the World War II. Mr. Prokos went on to serve 25 years with United States Government as a Water Treatment Plant operator last stationed at Quantico Marine Base.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Pearl Prokos, brother, George Prokos and
sister Elizabeth Lord.
Mr. Prokos is survived by his sons, William Duckwitz , Phillip Duckwitz, and Warren Prokos ; his daughter, Zandria Martinez; step-daughter, Dee Michaels; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
William will be laid to rest next to his wife at Quantico Marine Base.
A memorial gathering will be held on Tuesday, July 19, 2011 from 9:30-10:30 AM with a memorial service to follow at 10:30 AM at Found and Sons Lee Funeral Chapel, 8521 Sudley Road, Manassas, VA 20109. Inurnment will follow at Quantico National Cemetery.
