William Edward Lahr's Obituary
William (Bill) Edward Lahr, age 88, of Manassas, VA passed away on Monday, March 7, 2011 at Manassas Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Manassas, VA.
Bill was born in Toledo, Ohio on March 7, 1923. He was the son of the late Nona and William A. Lahr. He was employed by the Federal Government for 20 years and worked in Government Procurement. After retirement, he worked as a contractor for TRW and the National Academy of Sciences. He was a veteran of the WW II and the Korean War and retired as Captain from the US Army after 13 years and transferred to the US Air National Guard. He retired in 1967 at a Lt. Colonel, US Air National Guard after serving over 13 years as a reserve officer.
Bill is preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Anne Lahr, of 55 years.
He is survived by children, Sandy (and Bill) Crawford of Ellicott City, MD; Jan Angliss of Sea Cliff, NY; Mary (and Chet) Hanford of Manassas, VA; Diane Lahr of Manassas, VA and Michael (and Denise) Lahr of Manassas, VA; 8 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; niece Linda (and Howard) Thompson of Toledo, OH; 1 great niece and one great nephew and 1 great-great niece.
William’s family will receive friends on Friday, March 11, 2011 from 10:00 AM till 12:00 PM at Found and Sons Lee Funeral Chapel, 8521 Sudley Road, Manassas, VA 20109.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, March 11, 2011 at 1:00 PM at All Saints Catholic Church, 9300 Stonewall Road, Manassas, VA 20110.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to any charity of your choice in memory of William Edward Lahr.
A private Inurnment will take place at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
