William Arthur Johannis Jr.'s Obituary
William Arthur Johannis, Jr., 71, of Madison passed away April 22, 2015. He was born March 11, 1944 in Bronx, NY to the late William and Edna Ruth Johannis.
William retired from Virginia Department of Transportation after 26 years of service and worked part-time at the Plow and Hearth in recent years. He was a member of the American Legion Post #157 and a member of Madison Rescue Squad for 20 years, and discharged from the US Army during the Vietnam War.
He is survived by his wife, Dawn Banks Johannis of Madison; his step-father, Lloyd Dodson of Madison; two daughters, Mary Jean Harding and her husband, Irving of Ruckersville and Margaret Greene of Madison; his step-daughter, Adreanna Banks of Madison; his step-son, Christopher Ryan Banks and his fiancee, Josefine Engel of Chevy Chase MD; sisters-in-law, Marie Johannis of Madison, Claire Johnson of Culpeper, Mary Amzat of Orange, Karen Banks of Louisa and Lydia Banks of Upper Marlboro MD; and brothers-in-law, Harold Banks of Madison and Raymon Fincham of Culpeper.
Additional survivors include his grandchildren, Tiffany Danuser and her husband, Michael, Jennifer Harding and her husband, Paul, William Christopher Greene, Amanda Greene and Jordyn Vaughn and her husband, Daniel, all of Madison. William was blessed to have 12 great grandchildren. He was also blessed to have the best wing-man on the planet, John Wesley Jacobs of Culpeper.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Gladys Fincham Johannis; and his brother, Robert V. Johannis.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 30, 2015 from 6 to 8 pm at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA.
The burial will be private.
