William B. Hill, Jr.'s Obituary
William Beanes Hill Jr., 73, died Tuesday, Sept 24th peacefully at his home in Sperryville, VA. Born in Oklahoma City, OK on Sept 8th, 1940, he was the son of the late William B. Hill Sr. & the late Marie Zantzinger Hill.
Mr. Hill was an avid reader, an expert on military & civil war history, was fascinated with trains and had a love of genealogy especially when it came to his descendants of the Chew family. He lived in Virginia most of his life. He served in the US Army for 4 years with the ASA, primarily stationed in Germany, as cryptography and counter-espionage code specialist. He studied Math & Physics at Jacksonville University. Later in life, he earned a Masters degree in geographic and cartographic sciences from George Mason University. Professional History includes computer scientist at the Pentagon and US Geological Survey.
The love of his life, Elizabeth “Betty” Louise Hill passed in 2009 after 30 years of marriage.
He is survived by his brother, Otway B. Hill of Cheverly, MD and his sister Meri Hill Meredith of Columbus IN.
The family will receive friends on Monday, September 30, 2013 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper from 10 am until noon when a funeral service will be start at 12 pm.
Interment will follow in Culpeper National Cemetery with military honors provided by American Legion Post 330 and VFW Post 2524.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his name to the Sperryville Volunteer Rescue Squad, PO Box 178 Sperryville, Virginia 22740
