William Edward Daley's Obituary
William Edward Daley, 81, of Boston, Virginia passed away on March 10, 2018 surrounded by his family. William was born on August 3, 1936, in Mt. Kisco, NY to the late Ramon and Mary Olive Daley. He earned his Bachelors degree from Manhattan College and his Ph.D. in electrical engineering from the University of Florida.
William worked for twenty-five years as a research engineer for Bell Laboratories in Whippany, NJ and Holmdel, NJ.
In William’s retirement he taught math at Germanna Community College, Lord Fairfax Community College, and Epiphany Catholic School. He also tutored for the Literacy Council and served as their Volunteer Coordinator for a period of time. William was a member of the Knights of Columbus as well as the Secular Franciscan Order.
William is survived by his wife of 40 years, Carol Daley; children, Susan Garris (Richard), John Daley, Karen Brennan, Laura Davis (Michael), Tessa Westmoreland (Andrew), and Sharon Paolicelli (John Paul); grandchildren, Lynn, Joseph, and Benjamin Garris; Zach and Jake Daley; Colleen and Emily Brennan; Kelsey, Emma, and Cody Davis; and Luke and Brooks William Westmoreland; sister Anne Marie Vreeland (Peter); as well as a host of other family members.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, March 19, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Precious Blood Catholic Church, 114 E. Edmondson Street, Culpeper, VA 22701 with Fr. Mark Moretti officiating.
Interment will follow at St. Peter Cemetery, 12762 Lee Highway, Washington, VA 22747.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in William’s name to the Roman Catholic Diocese of Arlington, 200 N Glebe Road, #914, Arlington, VA 22203, Precious Blood Catholic Church, or Covenant House New York, 460 W 41st Street, New York, NY 10036.
