William Ellis Cunningham Jr.'s Obituary
William Ellis “Tucker” Cunningham, Jr. 76, of Culpeper passed away peacefully at his residence on Thursday, January 23, 2014. He was born July 7, 1937 in Fauquier County to the late William E. Cunningham, Sr. and Edith Welch Cunningham.
Mr. Cunningham served in the US Army during Vietnam and later worked as a cable technician for C&P Telephone for 36 years. After retirement, he worked for Commonwealth Park where he had a number of different jobs and enjoyed getting to know the people. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved gardening and was a longtime member of Culpeper Presbyterian Church where he served as a past deacon. Mr. Cunningham will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather.
He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Linda Jenkins Cunningham; three children, Matthew William Cunningham and his wife, Lisa of Alexandria, Michelle Elizabeth Vafiadis and her husband, Keith of Fredericksburg and Daniel Ellis Cunningham and his wife, Melissa of Culpeper; three siblings, Edith Houghton, Virginia Anderson and Kenneth Cunningham; four grandchildren, Taylor and Ryan Cunningham, Ava Vafiadis and Michael Cunningham; and a host of other family members.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six siblings, James Cunningham, Hazel Nolan, Agnes Brown, Willie Cunningham, Linwood Cunningham and Robert Cunningham.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 26, 2014 from 6 to 8 pm at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA.
A celebration of Mr. Cunningham’s life will be held on Monday, January 27, 2014 at 2 pm at Culpeper Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dr. R. Wayne Bernardo officiating.
Interment will be private.
