William Lee Cottoms' Obituary
William Lee Cottoms, 64, of Culpeper passed away on Wednesday August 30, 2017 at Mary Washington Hospital. He was born June 26, 1953 in Richardsville to the late Edgar and Annie Toliver Cottoms.
He proudly served his country in the U.S Army from 1973 to 1979.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a sister, Annie Marie White; and sisters-in-law, Edith Brown Menefee, Dorthy and James Smith, Alice Brown Turner, and Michelle Brown.
Survivors left to cherish his memory include his wife of 34 years, Mary Jane Brown Cottoms; a son, Thomas Brown Cottoms; a daughter, Leonia Brown and later raising Crystal and Kendra Brown; three brothers, Edgar Cottoms Jr. and his wife Cicely; Roy Cottoms and Susan; Robert Cottoms and Cynthia; three sisters, Dorothy Williams, Dorothea Allen and her husband Stanley and Delois Settle; sisters-in-law, Francis Lacy, Barbara Jean Brown, Elizabeth Davis, Shirley Robinson, Constance Gaskins (Thomas); brother-in-law, Arthur Brown, Jr. (Elizabeth); two aunts, Shirley Eleazar and Ann Pollard; 14 grandchildren including Kristopher Brown and Shatyia Brown, as well as Thomas Brown Jr. and Teneshia Robinson who went above and beyond for their granddad; 5 great grandchildren , 9 nephews, 7 nieces ,an honorary brother and sister Samuel and Robin Fields as well as a host of cousins and friends.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapels, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA 22701.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at 12:30 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel with Rev. Reece Washington and Rev. Frank Lewisofficiating.
Interment will follow at 2 pm at Culpeper National Cemetery with military honors provided by Culpeper VFW Post 2524.
