William Granville Colvin's Obituary
William Granville Colvin, 90, of Orange died Tuesday, April 3, 2012 at Dogwood Village of Orange. He was born September 1, 1921 in Albemarle County to the late Willie Marion and Hettie Powell Colvin.
Mr. Colvin was currently a member of Culpeper Baptist Church and formerly of Mitchells Presbyterian Church. He was a charter member of Mitchells Ruritan Club and a member of Ellis Mine Hunt Club.
He is survived by his wife, Vivian Walker Colvin, three children, Granville Wayne Colvin (Barbara) of Lignum, Linda C. Lohr (Harrison) of Culpeper and Brenda C. Jamison (Danny) of Glen Allen, VA and one sister, Dollie C. Jones of Culpeper.
Additional survivors include four grandchildren, Karen C. Lillard (T.M.), Kimberly C. Peterson (DuWayne), Andrew H. Lohr (Amy) and Emily J. VanFossen (Miller), five great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Fannie C. Frazier, Alice C. Tignor, Earlene C. Snow, Lucille “Carrie” Kerr and Ashby P. Colvin.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 5, 2012 from 6 to 8 pm at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 6, 2012 at 2 pm at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel with Pastor John D. Grotz officiating.
Interment will follow in Culpeper National Cemetery, with military honors provided by the VFW Post 2524 and American Legion Post 330.
Pallbearers will be Robert McMichael, Curtis Brooking, Dennis Walker, Walker Somerville, Charles Harple, Roger Judd and Tony Walker, honorary pallbearers named are Michael Graves and Larry Walker.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to Dogwood Village of Orange, 120 Dogwood Lane, Orange, VA 22960.
