William Sterling Carter's Obituary
William Sterling Carter, 76, of Bealeton, died Monday, January 20, 2025, at Novant Health Systems UVA Culpeper Hospital. He was born in Calverton on February 26, 1948, to the late William and Rosella Carter.
Sterling proudly served in Vietnam with the US Army. He spent the next 55 years painting. Sterling could be found in his recliner watching Walker Texas Ranger or Spiderman and eating his popcorn.
He is survived by his girlfriend of 30 years, Bonnie Moess; four children, William Sterling Carter, Jr. (Lisa), Billie Jo Coons (Jesse), Jenny Sanchez, and Cory Carter (Amanda); eleven grandchildren, Lauren Barlie (Brandon), Seth Carter, Austin Licklider, Brianna Hawkins, Anthony Sanchez, Brianna Sanchez, Cory Griffin, Kyra Griffin, Chase Carter, Ryker Carter, and Lillian Carter; the mother of Cory, Kathy Jo Carter; six siblings, Doug (Pat), Pat (Jimmy), Joyce, Scotty (Helen), Kathy (Dennis), and Brenda (Jeff); and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 26, 2025, at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, January 27, 2025, at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel with Pastor Barry Nelson officiating.
Interment will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Culpeper National Cemetery, 501 E. Chandler St, Culpeper, VA.
