William Alexander Brooks' Obituary
William Alexander Brooks, 56, passed away quietly at home Wednesday, March 5, 2014.
William served in the United States Army in Fort Dix, NJ; Beirut, Lebanon and West Point, NY. After being honorably discharged from the military, he worked as a carpenter and laborer.
William is survived by his fiancée, Joyce Capers of Stafford, Virginia; a son, David Shelton Brooks of Virginia Beach; a respectfully assumed son, Michael Smith of Stafford; mother, V. Ernestine Brooks of Woodford, Virginia; four brothers, Elroy L. Brooks of Washington, Timothy E. Brooks and Robert J. Brooks, both of Stafford, and Mack L. Brooks of Lyndhurst, Virginia; three sisters, Theresa V. Wallace of Dumfries, Virginia, Roberta D. Ferguson of Brooklyn, New York and Gladys Perkins of Woodford; brothers-in-law, John R. Wallace, Timothy Ferguson, and Ralph C. Perkins, Jr.; two former spouses, Suzette Sutton and Mary Woods; four respectfully assumed grandchildren, Shakir, Avery, Leilani and Gabriella Smith, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
A memorial service for William (Uncle Willie) Brooks will be held at 9:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at New Heights Christian Church, 319 Deacon Road, Fredericksburg, VA 22405. Interment will follow at noon in Quantico National Cemetery with military honors. A reception will begin at 12:45 p.m. at the church.
In lieu of flowers, burial expense contributions are greatly appreciated and can be made at the church.
Pallbearers will be, Gerrad Brooks, Mack Brooks, Ricky Leadbetter, Ralph C. Perkins, Jr., and Michael Smith.
“Uncle Willie” will be greatly missed.
