Ret. USMC Capt. William B. Bovee's Obituary
Ret. USMC Captain William B. Bovee, 87, of Spotsylvania, passed away peacefully on December 16, 2022 at Hughes Home and is reunited in heaven with his Lord and Savior.
Bill was born May 2, 1935 in Williamsport, PA to Peter and Nina Bovee. He was a choirboy in the Trinity Episcopal Church in Williamsport for 3 years and played basketball for the church teams. Bill attended and graduated from Williamsport High School. Three days after graduating high school, he joined the US Marine Corps.
He met Margaret Story from Munsey, PA, in 1954 and they were married two years later. He was a drill instructor at Parris Island, SC. Bill and Margaret raised their children in the military lifestyle moving to and from various bases. His career included two tours in Vietnam until the family settled in Spotsylvania, Virginia after Bill retired from Quantico in 1974. He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and the American Legion. Bill was also a former commander of VFW Post 10546.
Bill is survived loving of 66 years, Marge Bovee; his children, Denise Fines (Donald), of Spotsylvania, and Ron Bovee (Denise), of Earlham, IA; his sister, Carol Leather (James), of Williamsport, PA; seven grandchildren, Maria Atkins, Jonathan Atkins (Ashley), Tyler Bovee, Jordan Bovee, Morganne Bovee, Cheri Mills (Jeremy) and David Fines (Amber); 12 great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 12 pm on Wednesday, December 28, 2022 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapels, 10719 Courthouse Road, Fredericksburg. The family will receive friends one hour prior. Burial with military honors will follow in Quantico National Cemetery.
