Warren Allen Wray's Obituary
Warren Allen Wray passed away on February 6, 2018 in Culpeper, Virginia, at the age of 80. He was born March 1, 1937 in Henry County, Virginia, to Sarah Helen Wray and Virgil Wray.
The son of an auto mechanic, he loved fast cars and working on them, often telling stories of his youth and his adventures in them. He continued to develop his skills as a B-52 aircraft mechanic in the Air Force.
After leaving the Air Force, he began working for United Airlines and finished his 33 year career as a 747-400 Captain. He loved flying and shared this love with many others throughout his life.
Al was a very diverse and hardworking man. He had many careers during his life and many of them at the same time. He sold houses for American Standard Homes and had his own construction company to build them. He built many custom homes in the Culpeper and Warrenton area. Often a fixture at the Culpeper County airport, he also built the first T-hangers there. He was a licensed Master plumber and Master electrician in addition to being an experienced mechanic who could fix just about anything he encountered. Someone who was always in motion, you could frequently hear him say “do something”. He constantly learned new skills and used them to enrich his life and those around him.
A wise person who had truly magnified his talents, he had knowledge in many different areas, and could always be depended upon to give advice on any almost topic.
He is survived by his wife, Patsy Wray, three children, John Wray, Rachel Wray Eliason, and Jacob Wray, his sister, Vicky Turner and her husband, Robert, as well as eight grandchildren, Jack Eliason, Max Eliason, Isabella Wray, Lilly Wray, John Wray, Jaykob Owens, Michael Owens, and Ava Wray.
A viewing will be held on Friday, February 9, 2018 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at 11:00 am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints chapel, 420 Willow Lawn Drive, Culpeper, VA.
