Wanda Main Fant's Obituary
Wanda Main Fant, age 53, of Culpeper, passed away in her home on Sunday July 5, 2009. A gentle spirit and loyal friend, Wanda was loved by all who knew her. She was a beautiful person inside and out. Her children say that she was quick to welcome their friends into her home and treat them as her own. None went hungry and all were accepted for who they were. Gracious and forgiving, she preferred to see the good in people. Even when life was not generous to her, she found beauty and delight in what she had.
She was born February 14, 1956 in Lynchburg, Virginia to Ruth Main, who preceded her in death in 1998. As a young girl, she traveled the world as part of a military family, living in Germany and Japan, as well as several states, including Hawaii, Massachusetts, Texas, and Virginia.
Wanda is survived by her daughter, Ashley Fant of Radford, Virginia; a son, Kemper “Trey” Fant III of Roanoke, Virginia, her former husband, Kemp Fant of Roanoke, Virginia; her father, Floyd Main of Locust Grove; her sisters, Melody Widor and her husband Jeff, of Locust Grove, and Valerie Main of Culpeper; two half-sisters, Kathy Winkie and her husband Wade, of Kansas City, Missouri, and Linda Milks, of Buffalo, New York; many nephews and nieces, and several great-nephews and great-nieces.
A memorial service will be held at Hopewell United Methodist Church, 23557 Germanna HWY in Lignum, Virginia on Saturday, July 11, at 3:00PM. Flowers are welcomed at the church or memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
