Wanda Lee Souza's Obituary
Wanda Lee Souza, 71, of Staunton, Virginia, was born August 9, 1954, in Newport News, Virginia, the firstborn child of Opal Lillian and Eldridge LeRoy Shafer. She went to be with the Lord, on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, surrounded by her family at her daughter's home. She was the widow of Michael Leroy Souza.
She is survived by her son, Michael Anthony Souza of Staunton; her daughter, Cherice Micheal Souza and partner, Brian Payne of Locust Grove; grandchildren, Devon Troy Souza and partner, Grace of Stuarts Draft, Madison Shae Fitzgerald of New Market, and Aiden Lee Knott of Locust Grove; and great-grandchildren, Emmalyn Grace Souza and Robert Scott Souza.
She is also survived by her sisters, Pam Spiggle and husband, Ray of Gloucester, and Cindy Sumrell and husband, Ken of Florida; her brother, Roy Shafer of Lexington; her best friend since elementary school, Debbie Spaulding; and a host of additional family and friends.
In addition to her parents, Wanda was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Souza; her son, David Troy Souza; and her sister, Patty Loftus.
She enjoyed genealogy and family history research, and gardening - especially growing vegetables and flowers in her GreenStalk planter.
