We extend our condolences to Doris, Joan, Manuel, Chris and Kayla. Please know that we will keep you and Walter in our hearts and prayers during this difficult time.
When we moved to a farm on Old Hollow over 20 years ago, Walter and Doris became dear friends and an endless source of knowledge on all things relating to the farm and life in Rappahannock County. They went out of their way to help us get to know and appreciate our neighbors, and to help us fall in love with Sperryville and Rappahannock County.
We are grateful for Walter's patient ways, kindness, goodwill and wry sense of humor. We smile when we picture the twinkle in his eye as he made one of his many observations that were invariably perceptive and funny. Walter, you will be remembered with love and missed terribly by your family and friends.
We wish to thank the many volunteer fire departments from Rappahannock County that honored Walter yesterday, in such a meaningful way, at his funeral in Culpeper and escorted him to his interment at Sperryville cemetery.
