Wallace Mawyer Woodward's Obituary
Wallace Mawyer Woodward, 71, of Culpeper died Monday, June 15, 2015 at the Culpeper Baptist Retirement Community. He was born November 19, 1943 in Banco, VA to the late John and Mary Smith Woodward.
Mr. Woodward worked for VDOT for 36 years. He was especially proud of his military service in Vietnam in 1965 and 1966 at the height of the conflict. He was later awarded the Purple Heart for being wounded in action.
He is survived by two daughters, Jade and Ashley Woodward; two sisters, Alice Lillard of Culpeper and Barbara Woodward of Madison; two nieces, Virginia and Rebecca Lillard; and two aunts, Pearl Smith of Orange and Lois Odell of Madison.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Janice Carver Woodward; and one brother, John Woodward, Jr.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 18, 2015 from 6 to 8 pm at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 19, 2015 at 10 am at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel with Rev. James Bryan officiating.
Interment will follow in Culpeper National Cemetery with military honors provided by Culpeper VFW Post 2524.
