Waldron Alan Rosheim's Obituary
Waldron Alan Rosheim passed away on July 21, 2024 at Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg, VA. Wally was born on April 1, 1936, in Flandreau, South Dakota. He went to Luther College where he graduated in 1958. He attended Luther Seminary and he served in the ministry for 61 years.
Wally spent 20 years in the Army as a Chaplain and in addition to several US assignments, spent time in Korea, Japan, Germany and Belgium. After retiring from the Army, he served as a Pastor for several congregations before retiring in 1999. In retirement, he was a docent at Elwood, was a member of the Orange County Library Board, served as an interim Pastor for several Churches and traveled with his wife, Arlene.
Wally had many hobbies throughout the years including photography (many of his children’s pictures from their early years were taken by him), traveling (wintering in Edisto, SC), making waffles, making stained glass, piloting private planes, being a radio announcer and spending time with family.
Wally never met a stranger and spent many years embarrassing his children by talking to people in elevators.
Wally is survived by his wife of 65 years, Arlene of Fredericksburg, Virginia; his children, Laurie (David Wornson) of Des Moines, IA, Christie of Fort Yates, ND, Becky (Rich Gunter) of Whippany, NJ, and Alan of Cape Coral, FL; grandchildren, Tara, Ellen, AJ and Danielle; and great-grandchild, Zach.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Ellen; his sister, Harriet; and his brother, Jack.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 8, 2024 at Resurrection Lutheran Church, 6170 Plank Road, Fredericksburg. A graveside service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in Culpeper National Cemetery, 501 E. Chandler Street, Culpeper, VA.
