Vivian W. Colvin's Obituary
Mary Vivian Walker Colvin, 96, of Richmond, died Sunday, April 20, 2025, at Shalom Gardens Health and Rehab in Richmond, VA. She was born August 1, 1928, in Culpeper to the late Irving Jackson Walker and Bernice Hensley Walker.
Vivian was a member of Culpeper Baptist Church and a former member of Mitchells Presbyterian Church and Culpeper United Methodist Church. During her lifetime she was employed by the Aileen Company, earned her CNA certificate and worked at the Culpeper Baptist Home and in the physical therapy department of Culpeper Healthcare Center. Vivian also cared for children in her home and later worked at the Early Learning Center of Culpeper Memorial Hospital.
She is survived by three children, Granville Wayne Colvin (Barbara), Linda Colvin Lohr (Harrison), and Brenda Colvin Jamison; four grandchildren, Karen Lillard (T.M.), Kimberly Peterson (DuWayne), Andrew Lohr, and Emily VanFossen (Miller); numerous great, grandchildren and great, great, grandchildren; two sisters, her twin, Vera Somerville and Ellen Graves; and one sister-in-law, Ruth Walker-Bond, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Vivian is preceded in death by her husband, William Granville Colvin; one grandson, Matthew Wayne Colvin; one son-in-law, Danny Jamison; two sisters, Barbara Ann Walker and Irva Southard; two brothers, Harold Walker and Louie Walker; three brothers-in- law, Robert Somerville, Charles Southard, and Wilford Graves; and one sister-in-law, Shirley Walker.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Interment will follow at Culpeper National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Samaritan’s Purse, P. O. Box 3000, Boone, NC, 28607, for the hurricane victims.
